Emily McCourt, MD, Board Member
Emily McCourt is the Ponzio Family Chair for Pediatric Ophthalmology and chief of pediatric ophthalmology at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
Dr. McCourt grew up in Scarsdale, NY and completed her undergraduate training at University of Pennsylvania. After joining Teach for America and teaching seventh grade in East Los Angeles, she made her way back to the east coast for medical school at the University of Buffalo. Finally, after ophthalmology residency and pediatric ophthalmology fellowship Dr. McCourt realized that she would call Colorado and this department at the University of Colorado her home, and she joined the faculty. As a faculty member, Dr. McCourt has held multiple leadership roles including research director for the section, chair of the center for children’s surgery research symposium, and chair for the AAPOS professional education committee. She has held educational roles as the co-creator and chair of mock oral board course, director of the resident basic science series, serves on multiple resident and fellow selection committees, and is the director of the pediatric ophthalmology fellowship. Her current research interests include pediatric keratoconus focusing on patients with Down Syndrome, retinopathy of prematurity, and pediatric syndromic retinal dystrophies. |
