Meet Caitlin Geoffrion

Caitlin joined A Shared Vision as an Early Intervention Teacher of the Visually Impaired in 2019. She also works full time as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired for the Adams 12 Five Star school district. Her daughter, Rosie, was born with a visual impairment. While Rosie attended the Anchor Center for Blind Children, Caitlin decided to become a TVI and earned her Master’s degree from Missouri State University in 2019. Her first internship was with A Shared Vision.

In both of her jobs Caitlin has a very parent-centered approach. She likes building collaborative relationships with families. “I’m always reminding them to cherish their child the way they are. They’re just on a different journey.” Caitlin loves working in early intervention because “you get to make connections with families in some of the most impactful times in their lives.”

In January 2021 Caitlin won the Colorado Avalanche’s Most Valuable Teacher Award. The MVT program encourages school district teachers to continually strive for excellence and leadership by offering a unique experience in their classrooms. Caitlin received a $1,000 Classroom Improvement Grant and an Avalanche gift bag full of other goodies hand-delivered by Bernie the Mascot. The family loves hockey. Rosie, who is now eight, participated in the Avalanche’s first Try Blind Hockey Day with 45 other individuals from ages four to 76 who are blind or visually impaired.
