Vision Screening Protocol© Training — Self-Paced Online

This self-paced training prepares medical and non-medical professionals to confidently use the 2025 Vision Screening Protocol© with children from birth to age three. Participants learn how to interpret caregiver responses, determine appropriate referral urgency, recommend the appropriate eye care professional(s), document meaningful screening results, and communicate recommendations to caregivers.

What you’ll learn:

• The principles of current vision screening for children birth to age three.
• How the four components of the Vision Screening Protocol© work together as a standardized screening process.
• How to interpret caregiver responses and objective screening findings using the Scoring Guidance©.
• How to determine appropriate referral urgency and recommend the appropriate eye care professional(s).
• How to document meaningful Results & Next Steps for Caregivers© and communicate recommendations clearly.

• Self-paced online video
• Approximately 60 to 90 minutes

Certification:

• Successfully complete the competency-based final assessment to receive a Certificate of Completion (2.0 clock hours).
• Receive password-protected access to the complete 2025 Vision Screening Protocol© resources and tools.

Previously completed the 2022 training?

Professionals who successfully completed the 2022 Vision Screening Protocol© Training may continue to use those materials. However, anyone wishing to use the 2025 Vision Screening Protocol© must complete the 2025 training to become familiar with the updated Parent Questionnaire©, Scoring Guidance©, referral recommendations, and Results & Next Steps© tools.

Objective Vision Testing Training — In-Person

This hands-on training prepares professionals to perform the objective vision testing portion of the Vision Screening Protocol©, including fixation, visual tracking, pupillary reflex, and corneal light reflex assessments.

Prerequisite:

• Vision Screening Protocol© Training (2022 or 2025)

Format & Duration:

• One-hour, in-person session
• Offered in partnership with the Colorado Department of Education, Deaf-Blind Project

Vision Screening & EI Evaluations Training — Live Webinar
