Questions for Families to Ask the Eye Care Specialist

1. What is my child’s eye condition(diagnosis) and what caused it?
   
2. Should my child to have any other tests? What are the tests and what information will they give us?
3. Will my child’s eye condition and vision improve, get worse or stay the same?
4. What do you think my child is able to see?
5. Are there other medical issues that go along with this eye condition?
6. What can we do about this eye condition? Will glasses help? Operations? Medications? Patching? If doctor is prescribing medication, are there any side effects?
7. What kind of lighting will help my child?
8. What other things can I do to help my child use his or her vision better?
9. Is there anything my child shouldn’t do because of his or her eye condition?
10.  Where can I go to get more information about this eye condition? Are there any services available to help my child and our family? Can you refer me to other specialists who may be helpful to me?
11. How do you think my child’s vision will impact his or her development?
12. When would you like to see my child again?
